Visitor Information on Souris & Surrounding Area

Traveling east, you’ll discover no shortage of summertime outdoor fun.

Start your journey at The Inn at Bay Fortune, where celebrity chef Michael Smith delivers a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, showcasing his incredible talent with fresh, local ingredients.

For those treasure hunters, check Timeless Treasures in Fortune and Little Barn by the Bay in Little Pond for antiques.

Next, stop by Toby’s Farm Market—a perfect place for families. Let the little ones burn off some energy in the play area before rewarding them with a well-earned ice cream treat.

The Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival grounds are up next and they have multiple events happening throughout the summer for a stomping good time!

You'll soon hit Souris West where you will find Seaside Bakery & Over the Top for a taste of fresh Maritime baking. Souris Sauces, 2nd place Best Salsa of 2026 awarded by Chatelaine Magazine and The Lookout where you can look over the Colville Bay, Souris Beach & River and enjoy live music and a lobster roll.

From there, head to Souris Beach Gateway Park. Stroll along the boardwalk over the dunes, enjoy the playground and splash pad, have a cool ice cream treat and grab a delicious bite—think fresh lobster from Lobster Shack or lunch at The Poke Shack, Jerk Shack or Toby's on the Beach. Wander the sandbars, run for miles, or beachcomb along the shore in search of sea glass.

As you pass through the quaint town of Souris, you’ll find everything you need at local shops and merchants. At Second Time Around you may find a treasure. For lunch you may stop at Tipsy Farmers or Evergreen Café next to Tourist Information. Or perhaps you want something sweet and try some potato fudge from Oh Fudge. You will also want to see what the local artists have crafted at Artisan’s on Main.

At Souris Harbour , don’t miss The Fiddling Fisherman boat tours. Local fisherman JJ, fiddle in hand along with his family will take you out on his lobster boat. You’ll haul traps, hear stories, and enjoy a fresh lobster boil right on board—an authentic East Coast experience you won’t forget. If you prefer to stay on land, keep an eye out for bluefin tuna being hauled in or chat with locals fishing for mackerel off the pier. 21 BreakwaterRed Claw Bistro and Shirley's Place are your cuisine options. Visiting in July? Be sure to catch the Mermaid Tears Sea Glass Festival.

Next you will find us! Located at the Souris Historic Lighthouse climb to the observation deck for panoramic views of the Northumberland Strait—a view you won’t want to miss. Inside the gift shop Souris by the Sea Treasures you will be greeted by myself or one of my lovely staff with a smile. We have so many one-of-a-kind pieces from local artists that you will be sure to see something you love.

Every Friday throughout the summer the Town puts on a Farmer’s Market on the arena grounds next to the dog park. Here you will find local produce, preserves, art and crafts. I must stop for both visitors and locals.

Continuing east of Souris, you’ll discover some of the whitest sands and best beaches Prince Edward Island has to offer:

Little Harbour Beach
A hidden gem with stunning views—keep your camera ready. The shallow “mini run” on the west side makes it especially fun for families with young children.

Red Point Provincial Park
A beautiful beach and campground with facilities. Note that beach access requires descending stairs, so if mobility is a concern, you may prefer to continue on to Basin Head.

Basin Head Provincial Park
Also known as “Singing Sands Beach,” where the sand squeaks beneath your feet. Frequently ranked among the world’s best beaches, it offers full amenities, including a fisheries museum, wheelchair access, food options, and lifeguards. And of course—“the run,” where visitors flock to jump and swim.

Need a break from the beach? Visit the Elmira Railway Museum and enjoy a miniature train ride through the woods.

For a quieter escape, Bothwell Beach offers peaceful, seemingly endless stretches of white sand—perfect for long walks.

Next, make your way to East Point Lighthouse, where the Gulf of St. Lawrence meets the Northumberland Strait. On many days, you can actually see the waves collide—and you might even spot seals bobbing in the water.

As you round the eastern tip and head west along the North Shore, your first stop is North Lake Harbour. A small but very active little harbour. For a great meal, check out Boathouse Eatery for fresh local cuisine and a cold drink.

Further along, you’ll find St. Margaret’s Beach (affectionately known as Little Gram’s Beach). With a freshwater stream running through it, kids can spend hours building dams with rocks and driftwood.

At Naufrage Harbour, you’ll find a vibrant fishing community, a scenic beach, a rustic bridge, ice cream, canteen, paddle board & kayak rentals, and the nearby Shipwreck Point Lighthouse.

Looking for a little relaxation? Treat yourself to Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort—an 18-acre retreat designed to help you unwind, reconnect with nature, and recharge. The spa’s exclusive lunch menu is well worth it. Mysa recently landed a spot on Oprah Daily's 2026 Hotel O-wards; one of two hotels listed from Canada.

Finally, explore Greenwich National Park. Walk the boardwalk through peaceful wetlands, spot diverse birdlife, and climb the towering dunes for breathtaking views that will stop you in your tracks.

Golf is not far away, with stunning ocean views, rolling fairways, and some of Canada's most celebrated golf courses, Prince Edward Island is a dream destination for golfers. Whether you're a seasoned player looking for a challenging championship course or simply want to enjoy a relaxing round surrounded by beautiful Island scenery, PEI offers an unforgettable golfing experience. Links at Crowbush Cove, Avondale Golf Course, Brudenell River Golf Course, Rollo Bay Greens and Seal Cove Golf Course are all within a 30 minute drive.
